X-Mas gifts to myself:
1. A new hand-held can opener. Sounds stupid, right? I've been arguing (read: literally screaming curse words) with the same POS can opener for like 3 years and I finally remembered to buy a new one, just in time for the holidays. It is awesome. (Thank you, Martha Stewart.)
2. Mezzaluna. This sounds dumb too, correct? It is not. It is from heaven. I just chopped so many fucking herbs that it smells like Italy in here.
3. Eating healthier. This is sort of a "duh" -but what I mean is this: I already eat an almost totally organic diet. But I'm still sick. I am trying my best to be vegan as often as I can, because I think animal products might sort of make me feel like shit. It's that or gluten. I'm waiting on blood tests to get back from the Dr's office, but overall, I've stopped eating refined sugars, bleached flours, all that crap. Whole grains, alternative sweeteners or natural cane juice, organic everything, the works. I am too young to feel like dog shit all the time. (Don't get your panties in a bunch. I was raised on pot roast and Wonder Bread too, but I am like, puking all the time and getting migraines. My grandfather's diet doesn't work for me.)
4. Cat stuff, like little playgrounds and scratchy things. This is also something your mom would buy, but you know what? My cats are destroying my life. They need their own shit to tear-up or I will be forced to turn them into coats and coordinating handbags.Feeling like: chipper Listening to: Hungry Cats

A sheet of water And boiling water Sound almost the same From inside.
Wrapped around me through Racks and girders The wash and rinse Cleans the outside.
Almost as soon as I Feel consumed By the torrential And continuous stream I hear it cease and hesitate As though its confused And has lost its meaning.
Then it switches To small splatters And winding down with empty, hollow drifts.
Just as quickly as the Kettle boils The rinse of the world lifts. |
